Many films ride the fine line between being family-friendly and having steamy tension. On the surface, they look like whimsy, adventure, and animation, but have more mature undertones, like Jessica Rabbit in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” Here are the top movies that merge innocent plots with adult themes.

The Great Mouse Detective

This G-rated Disney movie is packed with mystery and animated mice, but one sultry scene in the bar showcases a sexy mouse singer performing burlesque and flirtatiously winking at the audience while wearing a revealing outfit. A spicy moment in a wholesome animated story!

Hercules

Megara brought the heat in this film thanks to her chemistry with Hercules and more mature songs paired with her flirty personality in songs such as “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)”. From body language to cheeky quips, Megara took things up a notch in this tale of Greek gods.

Ever After

Danielle’s slow-burning romance with Prince Henry was surprisingly passionate in a PG-rated take on Cinderella, taking things from your average fairytale to pure passion, especially in their sultry eye contact and that steamy library scene.

Grease

Many people get nostalgic about this retro high school romance flick. While it was rated PG, there was a ton of sexual tension between Danny and Sandy, from the drive-in moment to Sandy transforming into a leather-clad, tightly outfitted vixen for the song “You’re the One That I Want.” Both the choreography and lyrics were quite suggestive, as well as pregnancy scares and sexual subplots.

Enchanted

This movie was a musical parody of a fairy tale. Despite being rated G, Giselle and Robert’s attraction was intense, if not slow-burning. Their dance at the ball was filled with sexual undertones, and while Giselle was relatively innocent, when she wore her form-fitting dresses and waltzed to “So Close,” things got pretty hot!

Romancing the Stone

Packed with adventure, romance, and maybe a little more passion than you expected? Joan and Jack are clearly wildly attracted to each other in this take on a treasure hunt, and their suggestive banter and jungle village dance took the sizzle factor up even more.

Clue

This PG-rated comedic murder mystery was campy and filled with innuendo and suggestive dialogue. Miss Scarlet’s sultry demeanor gets a special shoutout, as does Wadsworth when he chats up the women. Add this to tight costumes and flirting, and the cheeky sensuality is obvious to anyone who’s looking for it!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Based on a novel by Victor Hugo, this family-friendly movie shares Quasimodo’s journey and has talking gargoyles. Esmerelda, a character in the movie, is sultry, confident, and often wears revealing outfits during her dances paired with suggestive hip movements that’ll raise an eyebrow for a G-rated Disney movie. The lust-driven song “Hellfire” by Judge Frollo was also similarly intense.

Cool World

This movie is often compared to “Roger Rabbit” for blending reality with animation. In it, Kim Basinger plays Holli Would, a highly sexualized animated femme fatale complete with a boundary-pushing personality and risqué outfits. Despite having a playful premise, Holli’s overall vibe and her spicy interactions with Jack make this film less innocent.

Labyrinth

This fantasy adventure is surprisingly rock n’ roll thanks to David Bowie, who infuses this story of a magical maze more sensually than you’d think. His tight-fitting clothes, pursuit of Sarah, manipulative and commanding energy, and suggestive words in the song “As the World Falls Down” all make this movie lean on the provocative side.

The Princess Bride

Despite undeniable moments of whimsy and adventure, this fairytale’s chemistry between characters Westley and Buttercup is electric, with charged glances passing between the characters, who also share a few passionate kisses. The longing in this film embodies the subtle sensuality that’s the running theme in our list.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Jessica Rabbit is one of the most iconic sexy cartoon characters of all time. This movie married live-action and animation, and while it had a PG rating, Jessica was a total babe and sex symbol of the era, with her ample cleavage, adult star vibe, and edgy lines like “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.”

The Mask of Zorro

As Elena and Zorro get to know each other in this swashbuckling PG-13 movie, things get rated R in a couple of scenes thanks to the chemistry between these two characters. This comes out especially strong in suggestive banter, a fiery dance scene, and flirtation paired with sword-fighting that shows these two are just dying to get it on.

Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest is a hilarious sci-fi comedy that parodies Star Trek, but despite its lighthearted romp, it contains unexpected steaminess. As Jason Nesmith and Gwen DeMarco navigate outlandish scenarios, there are seductive ones, like when they lose parts of their uniforms and have intimate romances with aliens.
