The reunion of Prince Harry and his family with King Charles III signified a significant step towards a long-awaited royal reconciliation that many around the world eagerly anticipated. That said, though a white flag was waved, it’s not all water under the bridge. It took a lot of effort and logistics to get Meghan Markle and the couple’s kids to the United Kingdom for the big visit, and according to the gossip mill, Meghan felt hurt by the way everything unfolded.
When Meghan and Harry’s kids visited Charles at his home on July 10, it appeared that the reunion had a happy ending. However, there was a tense moment when it was speculated that 5-year-old Princess Lilibet and 7-year-old Prince Archie’s security team might stop the meeting before it even started. There have been rumors that the safety of the children was an excuse that Meghan and Harry used as a tactic to negotiate a better agreement between them and Buckingham Palace, and the rumors reportedly have Meghan furious.
An insider said to Closer magazine, “To her, this is about as low as it gets.” To have people tearing her down and making hurtful and untrue claims is bad enough, but to drag her children into it is just beyond the pale. The source added that Meghan was especially baffled at people’s cruelty after thinking about how the children would grow up and “potentially read all this poison someday.”
Are the royals spreading rumors about Meghan and Harry?
It wasn’t surprising to learn that extensive security measures were an added complication in Prince Harry’s returning to his home country. He has always been careful to keep his wife and children out of the UK since their mistreatment by the Palace and the paparazzi. This marked the first time that the three of them had been back since 2002. In a 2025 interview with the BBC, he blamed security issues for his years-long feud with King Charles, saying, “I don’t know how much longer my father has, he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.”
Security remains a sensitive topic for the family, but it’s one that Meghan and Harry refuse to compromise on. Using extreme caution with security is mandatory, in their eyes, to travel comfortably with their young children across borders. Given the nature of Diana’s death, and the years previous that she dealt with media scrutiny, this is understandable. As a result, it makes sense that Meghan is fuming about the rumors that suggest there may be a different motivation behind security.
The Closer source commented, “She can’t believe anyone would seriously suggest she and Harry are using Archie and Lilibet to blackmail the King to get what they want. As far as Meghan’s concerned, that’s twisted thinking and completely beneath her.” They added, “What makes it a thousand times worse is that she’s sure that a lot of this ugly narrative is being sanctioned, or even pushed, by people behind the palace walls that truly sickens her.”
