You may know Kelsey Lewis from the Pink music video “Family Portrait.” She started her acting career at 4 years old, and while she acted in several commercials for brands like Disney, Mervyn’s, Merrill-Lynch, Tropicana Orange Juice, and Toys R Us, she made a name for herself as a young Pink in the music video for “Family Portrait.” She also appeared later in Pink’s music video for “Trouble.”

In “Family Portrait,” she played a young girl who has trouble moving on from the issues she struggles with due to her parent’s divorce. The song was about family conflict, and Lewis’s performance as a traumatized child earned her attention and helped turn her into a child star.

At nine years old, her exposure to the music video led her to land her first movie role. She played Nellie in “Samantha, An American Girl Holiday.“ Later, she appeared in well-known TV shows like “Gilmore Girls,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and a few made-for-TV flicks.

Along with acting, Lewis grew up to become a DJ and professional dancer who lived in San Diego, Southern California.

Tragically, her life was cut short at the age of 29. Kelsey Lewis lost her life in a paragliding accident in San Jacinto, Riverdale County, in October 2024.

At the time, she was a dancing DJ who had worked with Dancing DJ Productions—along with DJing, she was a dance instructor. The company’s owner called her an “awesome employee with great energy and always super happy.”

Beyond acting and DJing, she had a love for music that extended to playing guitar and singing. A tribute to Lewis on Instagram from her partner honored her as an “outdoors lover, motorsports ripper, skydiver, speed flyer, and my person, my partner, my best friend.”

She was described as someone who would support her friends at any cost and had an “empathic and beautiful personality” that drew many people to her.

In Lewis’s bio, she said. “Getting to work with and sing alongside [Pink] was an inspiring and amazing experience that I’ll keep with me forever,” and added, “Throughout my acting career, I have been blessed to work (and dance) alongside some amazingly talented performers who continue to inspire me daily.”

While we might know Kelsey Lewis from that Pink music video, it’s clear that this talented and beloved young woman is so much more than a nostalgic blast from the past.
