When it comes to online dating, it can take some time to get comfortable with a new match. It may even take a few dates before you do any intimate things with them. Well, one woman and man who met on Tinder sped things up a bit—instead of going on their fourth date, he accompanied her to the delivery room. This is not what they had in mind for how their next date would go, but their story proves that love does not have to follow typical conventions. Read on to learn how childbirth brought these two together on their fourth date.
In a non-conventional move, Alyssa Jane decided to try out online dating when she was 25 weeks pregnant. This is how she matched with Max on Tinder. They felt instant chemistry and decided to take things further and have their first date.
“I didn’t want to lead anyone on, so I was being open and honest,” Alyssa said in terms of being pregnant while pursuing online dating. “I wanted them to know what they were getting into right off the bat,” she said.
Max said that something told him to do things a bit different when he saw Alyssa’s profile. “Normally I wouldn’t swipe right on a pregnant girl, but there was just something about her,” he said.
They ended up meeting for their first date, and they said there were a lot of nerves between the two of them. But the chemistry was great in person as well, and they felt very comfortable planning their second and third dates.
Max and Alyssa were feeling so great about their connection that they decided she would pick him up from the airport when he got back from a business trip we went on. The plan was to go on their fourth date after the airport pick-up, but things did not go according to plan. In fact, things took a pretty drastic turn.
As Alyssa was about to make her way to the airport, she was super excited to see Max. She had a doctor’s appointment, where the doctor let her know that her water had broken. It was a huge surprise she did not expect and definitely changed the course of her day, to say the least.
She made a call to Max to inform him of the change in plans, and he immediately headed to the hospital to meet with Alyssa’s mom. She helped to reassure her mom that he was there to support and aid in any way he could.
At just 34 weeks pregnant, the doctors needed to make sure that Alyssa’s baby stayed inside and she did not have a delivery this early. She was prescribed medication and ordered to be very relaxed and to keep an eye on her status.
Alyssa stayed at home for a whole week, and Max never left her side. He was there to keep her calm and attend to her needs. “For that whole week, I stayed with her at her place [and] drove her to the hospital when she needed,” Max said.
What was even scary was that the doctors found that Alyssa had an infection, and they had to go ahead and induce labor as soon as possible for the health of her and the baby. They had to do an emergency C-section, and Max was with her through it all.
“I was a little bit nervous because I was by myself, and I was also worried that—okay, yes, I want him as a support person, but what if we end up breaking up in a week’s time,” Alyssa said.
But their story proves that love can conquer all. Their tumultuous beginning only brought them closer together. While the newborn baby, named Ollie, had to spend several days in the NICU, Max embraced the role of father without hesitation.
Eventually, Alyssa and Max got engaged, and welcomed a baby girl together to the world. The reaction on social media to their story has been huge. They have gone viral on TikTok, and inspired so many people to be open to looking for love in interesting ways.
