6 Most Memorable Olympics 2024 Moments

Once again, we’ve seen the end of an international sports event and, once again, the internet is flooding with memes to make sure nobody forgets about all the memorable things that happened. From the very lengthy and somewhat over-the-top opening ceremony in Paris, we knew the 2024 Olympics were going to be something special and boy, they didn’t disappoint.

Let’s take a look at some of the moments the internet has decided to safeguard for posterity and elevate to the lonely heights of memedom.

Simone Biles Comeback

No one really had any doubts, but after suffering from twisties at the 2020 Olympics, a lot of media outlets were voicing concerns about the level at which Simone Biles could perform. In between winning medals, she never let a moment go by to let the critics know they were wrong. She even got in a small moment where she posted about her “black job,” a reference to Trump’s disastrous interview at the NABJ.

Perfect 10 in Diving For Quan Hongchan

While diving is always impressive to watch, this Olympics we actually got a dive that rated a 10 from all the judges. Why? Because the dive was so perfectly executed, it didn’t even cause a splash. Diver Quan Hongchan already won her first gold medal in 2020 when she was only 14 years old, and it looks like nobody will be beating this diving talent anytime soon.

Snoop Dogg

Any Olympics segment you watched, Snoop did something unexpected. From becoming a sports commentator to actually visiting and lounging with the athletes, Snoop had an incredible time in Paris while simultaneously acting as an NBC commentator. Apparently Snoop also got a hefty paycheck for his time, bringing in $15 million for his Olympic antics.

Gabriel Medina Victory Photo

Getting a unique picture whenever you win a medal is very difficult. Surfing, a discipline where huge waves constantly slam you in the face, makes it even more challenging. Gabriel Medina didn’t really give a hoot about all that, just giving us a celebratory upward finger as he was flying over the water. Some lucky photographer managed to capture the moment at the perfect time, making it look like Medina was actually flying.

Rachel ‘Raygun’ Gunn

Breakdancing was one of the new sports at the Olympics. I say that because we already know that it won’t be a part of the 2028 Olympics, and we can’t help but wonder if the memed-to-death performance of Raygun for the Australian team has anything to do with that. With moves that were more “drunk uncle after 2 AM” and less “professional breakdancer,”  Raygun has instantly become the internet sensation of 2024. Sadly, it wasn’t because she was good.

Bob The Cap Catcher

It’s not often you find a floating swimming cap in the pool during the Olympics, but it’s even less common that someone that isn’t one of the actual swimmers grabs it out. The unknown hero, dubbed Bob The Cap Catcher, dove in there with his floral speedos and did what needed to be done as he infamously saved the swimming cap from … from what exactly?
