10 Worst Dressed World Leaders Of All Time

World leaders aren’t exactly known for being fashionistas, but beyond all the policies and campaigns, we couldn’t resist commenting on the worst-dressed world leaders of all time. After all, how can leaders remain respected when they can’t even properly dress themselves in the morning? Here are all the famous elected officials throughout history who have made some controversial decisions regarding their sense of style.

1. Donald Trump

Donald’s poorly fitted suits look like something a kid dressing up as a businessman would wear for Halloween. His baggy pants always fit terribly, and the jackets often aren’t well-tailored either. For someone who was such a public-facing personality for four years, it’s surprising that he couldn’t find a well-tailored suit. The ties are also not cute.

2. Muammar Gaddafi

The leader of Libya wore some questionable outfits, to say the least. The looks included clashing, bright colors, and gaudy jewelry that you might see on a peacock. We’re not sure if his goal was to stand out from the crowd by peacocking, but it certainly garnered some attention, not necessarily in a good way…

3. Boris Johnson

Johnson’s style has been described as a lazy schoolboy, or at least someone who woke up five minutes before an appointment and ran out of the house without looking in a mirror. From the wild hair to the untucked shirts and his ghastly running outfits (Hawaiian shorts, really?) And the rumor that he wears rented suits on a regular basis—there’s just so much to tackle here. Let’s start with a comb, shall we?

4. Kim Jong Il

Kim Jong Un is also a fan of flappy fabrics, but these are in more monotone colors in a zip-up style. Matching tops and bottoms, as well as oversized sunglasses, are a mainstay in this North Korean leader’s looks, and the haircut has also earned criticism from people everywhere. His dad’s go-to look was khaki safari-inspired looks, so we think this family may need a new stylist!

5. Maha Vajiralongkorn

The king of Thailand is known for bold, unconventional fashion statements, but we’re still unsure whether his daring looks are groundbreaking or just confusing. They include hipster jeans, fake tattoos, and, most surprisingly, tight crop tops. Would Gen Z be proud of this king for breaking gender norms, or should he be donning a more sophisticated style suitable for a world leader?

6. Fidel Casto

Although Fidel Castro was once a fan of military fatigues, his love of tracksuits has us confused. Was he a soccer coach or a world leader? From FILA and Nike to Adidas, Castro wasn’t afraid to rock bold, bright, and colorful looks. In particular, he had an affinity for Adidas after the Cuban Olympic team was sponsored by the brand. But according to Adidas, they never had a contract with the leader; he just loved being comfy!

7. Hugo Chavez

Just like his buddy Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, the leader of Venezuela, was also a big fan of tracksuits. His favorite was one that showed off blue, red, and yellow—the same colors as the Venezuelan flag. He also loved wearing a red tracksuit since it represented socialism’s red flag. Who knew the tracksuit was so political?

8. Robert Mugabe

Marxist President Mugabe’s fashion downfall began when he began his own fashion line, using his signature as the logo. Maybe world leaders should leave the designing to the designers, or is it just us? He also had a penchant for ultra-bright, outlandishly patterned suits and looks that Flavor Flav would be proud of.

9. George Bush

When you’re investing your trust in a world leader, you want them to look regal and stately—not like a cowboy straight out of a Western film. Promoting the idea that the United States was full of all-American cowboy types, many of the stereotypes about the US are probably due to Bush. His vacation looks were just as bad, often combining knee socks with sandals, a clashing baseball hat, and a poorly matched shirt.
