It’s a big deal when a royal gets called into the courtroom, and that’s exactly what’s happening to Prince Harry thanks to Donald Trump. The Southern California resident is dealing with a lot these days, including his state’s rampant wildfires threatening his Montecito home. And now, President Trump has decided to make his life even more difficult. As Trump stepped into the Oval Office once more, he reopened a lawsuit regarding Harry’s immigration papers.
As a result, Prince Harry is now required to make a court appearance in Washington, D.C. The case, which was once closed to keep the royal’s visa information confidential, has been reopened, exposing the prince’s personal news to the public.
Originally, the lawsuit was brought on by The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank organization that weaponized information from Prince Harry’s memoir “Spare,” using it against him. In the book, Harry admitted that he had experimented with different drugs and psychedelic mushrooms. The think tank claimed that this meant Harry lied about using drugs in the past and that, as such, he shouldn’t have been allowed to enter the United States via a visa.
When Meghan and Harry dropped their royal duties and moved to Meghan’s hometown of California, Biden was president of the US. As a result, Harry was given preferential treatment by the POTUS to enter the United States—at least, that’s what The Heritage Foundation said. However, Heritage soon lost its case. The Department of Homeland Security did not approve the foundation’s Freedom of Information request. According to the New York Post, the judge on the case ruled that “the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke’s immigration records.”
However, thanks to the long-lasting feud that Trump maintains with the royal family, he might make a move to have those once-hidden immigration records to be brought out into the light and reviewed once again.
Trump has been targeting Harry for a while
Trump hasn’t censored himself when speaking about Harry and Meghan’s decision to depart from their roles as working royals. Based on a report from the NY Post, Trump threatened Harry at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference. He boldly stated, “I wouldn’t protect [Harry]. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.” He also didn’t mince his words when speaking about the Biden administration, saying that he thought they had been “too gracious” to Harry after everything he had done.
While that statement might have come across as an unfair judgment, the royal couple has been raising suspicions about charity donations through their Archewell Foundation. The couple has supposedly spent more on the foundation than they’ve earned, with funds mysteriously disappearing from the Sussex Royal fund without going into the Archewell fund.
No one was more excited about Trump’s second term than the Heritage Foundation. The think tank’s director, Nile Gardiner, made a statement on the record and said, “Donald Trump is ushering in a new era of strict border control enforcement, and you know, Prince Harry should be held fully to account as he has admitted to extensive illegal drug use.”
He added a sinister final comment, saying that his “firm expectation” was that “action will be taken.” With Trump in charge now, the Montecito transplant might want to discuss the possibility of leaving the country with his wife, just in case they’re asked to move back across the pond to a lifestyle they both know and loathe.
