Amy Schumer’s 9 Worst Makeup Mistakes Of All Time

Comedian and actor Amy Schumer has experienced quite the transformation as she’s become more famous over the years. For as long as she’s been in the public eye, she’s faced scrutiny for her looks. Cosmetics-wise, Schumer has usually stuck to her classic blond hair with minimal makeup, but there have been a few times she experimented with her makeup—and probably regretted it. Here are Amy Schumer’s top makeup mistakes over the years.

Heavy, garish makeup at the 2015 CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards

With makeup so intense it looked like it was applied for a school play, this 2015 look packed on more cosmetics than it should have. From the caked-on foundation to the too-dramatic and overly dark eye makeup, she was just buried in product, and it wasn’t a good result.

Way too much blush for a cartoonish look

Who doesn’t use blush these days? However, it’s easy to go overboard if you don’t have the right guidance. At Variety’s 2024 Power of Women event, Schumer kept the makeup minimal but wore an enormous amount of pink blush that had her looking like a cartoon character.

Sunburn-inspired blush

Can a makeup artist please help Amy Schumer apply her brush? In 2022, when she attended the “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2 premiere, we’re not sure if she was actually sunburned and trying to unsuccessfully cover up or just suffering from her usual blush blindness with too-rosy cheeks and an otherwise barefaced look.

Terrifying pink eye makeup at the “Kinda Pregnant” premiere

What was meant to be a light and whimsical pink makeup look paired with a baby pink dress went from femme to atrocious. While her pink lip and blush were well-balanced, the eye makeup looked like poorly blended, multiple shades of pink, resulting in a streaky horror.

Smokey eyes with a flat foundation

Along with having a blush problem, Amy Schumer needs to work on her eye makeup and foundation application (or her makeup artist needs to get fired). While she’s usually under fire for going too colorful, she went blush-free and monochromatic at a 2018 press conference for “I Feel Pretty.” The look was dimensionless and overly matte, worsened by dark gray eye makeup, which coated her upper lids and made her eyes look too close together.

Some spooky, spidery eyelashes

This actor doesn’t typically wear dramatic false eyelashes, but she decided to mix things up at the 2017 Met Gala. Those thick lashes looked messy and large and were especially overwhelming when paired with otherwise minimal makeup, making for an intense look, and not in a good way.

The runaway eyelashes

Another eyelash mishap was with winged liner, which we don’t often see Schumer with. At a press conference for “Snatched” in 2017, she attempted the look, which had cartoonish wings, and when paired with jagged-looking eyelashes and dark liner that starkly contrasted with otherwise light makeup, it ended up being a distracting and confusing look.

Lopsided eyeliner

In 2016, Schumer committed an eyeliner crime at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. She may not have done the winged faux pas, but she applied too much eyeshadow and liner for a smoky look that ended up looking obviously asymmetrical against an otherwise nude makeup palette. We’re guessing that heavy eyes that looked like they were entirely different shapes weren’t what she was going for.

Her 2016 Golden Globes eye makeup looked like a low-budget sci-fi movie

This look was out of this world in a bad way. To bring the drama with her black and white gown, she kept her lips and face neutral but went with a heavy eye, which seems to be one of the major themes of Amy Schumer’s makeup mistakes. She applied light, metallic eyeshadow to the inner corners of her eyes, making them look close together, and dark eyeshadow to the outer corners, creating a non-cohesive look that didn’t work with her eye shape.
