It has become very common to see films about supernatural creatures like werewolves and vampires. While with vampires we have a clear image of what we want, werewolves are always stuck with being a pretty wolf or an ugly human. Let’s see if some of the on-screen werewolves have managed to capture our attention.
I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957) – Michael Landon
The oldest film on the list also has very interesting plot and quite an impressive performance by the actors like for an old movie. The makeup is very good and the film itself has become one of the references for modern werewolf movies. If you would like to enjoy an old nostalgic movie, this is the one to go for.
Wolf (1994) – Jack Nicholson
Even though this film is labeled as a horror story, Jack Nicholson shows that it is way deeper than that. The actor portrays well the character tingled in a dark romantic story, but at the same time plot twists might surprise you. Jack Nicholson has done his best to make this film a bit less cliché.
When Animals Dream (2014) – Sonia Suhl
It’s a rare occasion when women play werewolves but when they do, it can become a completely new subgenre for werewolf films. While blood and animal cruelty are expected from this type of film, Sonia Suhl played a human werewolf who actually goes through the journey of finding her place in life, the identification of her home and a simple view of society.
