Disney princesses are the epitome of perfection. They’re strong, they’re intelligent, they’re gorgeous and they seem to have almost no character flaws whatsoever. If anything, Disney is the reason guys grow up thinking that perfect girls exist. They don’t, but some girl might be perfect for you in her imperfections – that’s way more valuable. If you compare them to “real” girls however, reality will often fall flat on its face. I’m pretty sure every girl you know has had some pictures taken of her at a certain point where – no matter how cute or gorgeous she is most of the time – she looks absolutely horrendous.
Thankfully, someone decided that Disney princesses needed the realism treatment. Having them look visually perfect is not only detrimental to the body image of young girls, it’s also one of the biggest lies since the conception of Jesus. So the obvious solution was to create Instagram-esque photos of Disney princesses where they, well, looked like a normal girl that just took the worst picture of her life. And while it won’t make girls with low self esteem feel better, it’ll probably get a good chuckle or two out of pretty much everyone else. And I guess that’s something too.

They don’t look ugly (well, they kind of do) in the pictures, but they don’t look perfect either. And I guess that’s the most important part here. Even beautiful women can look like they got their picture taken at just the wrong moment where their double chin is showing quite obviously. Of course we all know this from real life, but we’re turning more and more into a society where “real life” is whatever we interact with on our phones so I guess it’s all pretty relative when you think about it.

Having these perfect girls in this setting isn’t just a good thing, it’s also hilarious. I mean, these are the kind of pictures that you want to instantly delete but follow you on the internet for decades. Just ask Beyoncé, she had that Super Bowl picture she desperately wanted to get rid of. Didn’t work out quite so well for her.
So long story short: everyone has ugly pictures that’ll haunt them for the rest of their lives – even Disney princesses. Well, at least now they do. Some of them do. Heck, you get what I’m trying to say here.
