This lady is talented, beautiful and always impeccably dressed. Her movies are a pleasure to watch and her filmography is quite sizable. So if you’re struggling to figure out where to start — here are some of the best movies Audrey Hepburn has starred in. We suggest you watch these first.
1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
This is possibly one of the most referenced Audrey Hepburn movies, and for a good reason. Audrey plays a woman called Holly Golightly, who lives in New York and dreams of falling in love with a rich man. Sometimes she likes to dress up in her best clothes, have breakfast in the city, and peruse the windows of Tiffany’s, dreaming of all the pretty things she’d like to buy. Holly loves glamorous parties and often goes to them in hopes of finding the man of her dreams. But as life will have it, she falls in love with a struggling writer instead of a millionaire.
2. How To Steal A Million
A heist movie with Audrey Hepburn? That’s right! This is a brilliant comedy, in which Audrey plays the daughter of a man who makes his living by forging paintings of famous artists and selling them for a lot of money. But there’s a problem with one of his paintings and if anyone discovers that it’s fake, his whole business will be over. So Audrey, being a good daughter, decides to hire someone to steal it. And it just so happens that the thief she hired is actually an undercover investigator that is meant to spot forged paintings.
3. Roman Holiday
A super popular 50’s romantic comedy that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. Audrey plays a princess who’s tired of her royal life. She runs away and meets a reporter named Joe. They spend a whole day exploring Rome together, having adventures, driving around, and basically, Princess Ann gets to enjoy her life as if she was just a normal person, not a royal with her duties and royal protocols. Joe originally is supposed to write up an interview about their adventure, but he decides not to do that because finds himself falling in love with the princess.
4. My Fair Lady
If you like makeover movies – this is a great one. Audrey starts out as a common flower girl and then gets a total makeover to become a proper lady. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and the costumes in this movie are stunning. Seriously, even if you don’t care much about the plot, the costumes alone make this movie worthwhile.
Audrey plays Sabrina Fairchild, a girl whose father works as a chauffeur for a rich family. Sabrina has been secretly in love with the youngest son of that family, but he doesn’t even notice her. When she finds out he’s involved with another woman, Sabrina attempts to kill herself but is stopped by the older brother of the family played by Humphrey Bogart. She leaves for Paris to attend a culinary school and comes back a changed woman. Romantic adventures ensue.
Audrey Hepburn plays a widow (Regina), whose husband was murdered. Apparently, he stole a small fortune and now multiple crooks are after Regina to get a piece of that fortune. A CIA agent and a handsome stranger are trying to help her, but can she really trust anyone in this situation? This movie is a perfect mix of comedy, suspense, and even romance.
