Ýr learned to knit as a child in school and it very quickly became her hobby, her passion, something she loves doing all the time. She could read comic books and knit at the same time, you know, a very normal and popular thing amongst kids. She says she’s been into it her whole life, apart from a short period of her life called the teenage years where she didn’t knit because it wasn’t cool.

But Ýr’s knitted masterpieces are like no other. She never really cared much about patterns and instead just took the trial and error method and ran with it. In a way, that’s a great way to be creative and inventive, we believe that’s the artist in her. If she just wanted to learn all the patterns and follow the rules, would she end up knitting tongues on her sweaters and little tentacle creatures on her sleeves? Probably not.

Ýr is very aware of the fact that her creations aren’t for everyone, but that’s fine with her, she makes it because she likes it and enjoys the process and she knows that there are people who will like it. And if people say they don’t like it – great, she didn’t make it for those people.

Ýr also thinks that her art isn’t meant for a museum but at the same time, she’s not about to mass-produce it either. She really cares about sustainability and the environment.
