Fashion photoshoots can get pretty weird, but we love the creativity that goes into those. If you’re into it, fashion photoshoots can inspire you to dress up, take risks, play around with silhouettes and makeup, and they’re often a great inspiration for photographers too. Today we’d like to share with you the photoshoot for the brand Undercover. This is their Women’s spring-summer 2021 collection titled “The Sixth Sense.” It’s a beautiful blend of cute and kooky.
Undercover is a brand created by Japanese designer Jun Takanashi. He was born in 1969 in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. Jun went to Bunka Fashion College, which is one of the best and most well-known fashion colleges in Japan. He founded his brand Undercover in 1990 while still at school and it’s been thriving ever since. Takanashi is known not only in Japan but all over the world and has started participating in Tokyo Fashion Week back in the 90s and in the early 2000s, he took part in Paris Fashion Week too. He’s also been collaborating with Uniqlo since 2011 and has his own collection with them.
Undercover collections have a unique look to them and we love how distinct the designs are. You can tell that each collection has been created with a specific idea and mindset and has a theme to it.
The 2021 Women’s Spring-Summer Collection is divided into “groups”, each of them with a specific look and theme. The first group titled “Cute & Madness”, which is a perfect description of the style they represent. All the models look hella cute, but the overall theme is a bit kooky and mad, like a Japanese version of Wonderland.
The second group is titled “Pablo” and is giving us colonial vibes, but make it cute and pastel. We love the hats, and the color palette is exquisite. Artsy pirates is another way to describe this look.
The third group is called “P.S.” and we’d say it’s something you’d see at Glastonbury if it actually could happen this year. But who knows, the collection is for spring-summer 2021, so maybe by next summer the world will be back to normal and we’ll see these looks at the festivals.
The fourth and final group we’ll share with you today is titled “Coexistence” and we think it’s the most adorable one. It’s giving us Wes Anderson vibes but with a Japanese twist. Perhaps something you’d wear for a walk by the sea.
