Sometimes your girl just isn’t having the best day. Sometimes it’s up to you to cheer her up. Even if you’re tired, even if you’ve had a bad day too — you gotta take one for the team and be the supportive partner you signed up to be when you started the relationship. You can’t always have a unique and creative solution, but here are 9 quick ways to get your girlfriend to smile after a bad day.
Dance Party
There’s no way anyone’s going to feel sad after a dance party. If you’re dancing — you’re having a good time. I didn’t make the rules. But the key here is that starting a dance party takes effort. So, you gotta put on the music that she likes, and you gotta be the first one to start dancing. There will be resistance to the idea of dancing after a bad day, but you do you. Eventually she’ll see how much fun you’re having and will join in.

Food
While I can personally, confirm that it’s 100% possible to cry while you eat because of how tough of a day you’ve had, I can also confirm that there is a 0% chance that people still feel just as bad after food as they did before food. So, order some pizza, make some dinner at home, or suggest to go out — because food is a great way to improve the mood of a person.

Tea & Biscuits
Following on the idea of “food”, another good thing is tea and some cookies. First of all, just saying the word “cookie” is fun. If you do it a lot (basically to the point that it stops meaning anything to either you or your girlfriend), that might be enough to put a smile on her face. But also, tea is like a liquid hug, and sugar is great.

A Hug
Speaking of hugs! Hugs are a great way to improve people’s mood. Long (10-seconds or more) hugs release endorphins, and endorphins make people happy. If all else fails, just give your girlfriend a long, big hug, and that should do the trick and make her feel better.

Stand-Up Comedy
Put on a good stand-up show on Netflix. Sure, the first few jokes might not land, but sooner or later the general sound of other people laughing at jokes should help improve your girlfriend’s mood. I, personally, recommend the comedy of Donald Glover, John Mulaney, and Fluffy. *Especially Fluffy.

Wine
You know what’s fun (if you’re old enough)? Alcohol. But look, the point isn’t to get your girlfriend wasted. Your goal isn’t to numb the pain of a bad day, but simply to alleviate some of the negativity that came from it. A glass of wine is all it takes. Paired with a nice cheese or any of the things mentioned above — a glass of wine should do the trick and help your girlfriend smile a bit.

TikTok Compilations
You know what sucks about Vine? Vine is dead and doesn’t exist anymore. Sure, you’ve watched those vines 10000 times, but after the 10001 time it starts getting kind of annoying. But, thankfully, there’s a great alternative — TikTok! Not only do many Tickets have the same general “vibe” as Vines, but many of the people who were famous on Vine have transitioned to TikTok. You should have no trouble finding a few funny ones to show to your girlfriend.

Pet Pictures/Videos
The trend of sending people cat videos when they’re feeling sad has been around for as long as the internet has been around. It’s a popular thing because it works. So, show her some cute cat, dog, and donkey videos, and you’ll have no trouble making your girlfriend smile.
Just Talk
Here’s the thing, sometimes trying too hard to make your girlfriend smile might not be what she needs. It might be what you want, but it might not be what she needs. Maybe she just needs someone to listen to her, be in her shoes, and empathize with the bad day that she’s had. So, before you try any of the things listed above, just ask if maybe she wants to talk about her day instead of forgetting about it.
