No matter how depressing the thought of dying is, a lot of us are kind of curious about it when it comes to celebrities. Often times when you hear of a famous person dying the first reaction is to be shocked and saddened by the news, but then it’s quickly followed by curiosity and questions of how it happened and what caused it. In most cases, the family members or people close to the deceased celeb will release a statement about the time and circumstances of death, but sometimes those are vague. Many have learned that for the specifics you need to check the autopsy reports, and those are way more telling and sometimes quite surprising. So let’s talk about weird things discovered in celebrity autopsy reports.
Many people think that the main reason for Heath Ledger’s death is because he went method when playing the Joker and that essentially drove him insane and caused him to kill himself. While some of it is true and Heath did like to take a very serious approach to embody the character he was set to play, his family says that he actually wasn’t depressed while working on his last film. In fact, he was doing better than ever as far as they know. So while there are journals that he kept while working on his portrayal of the Joker that look pretty kooky, the autopsy report reveals that it was a bad mix of prescription drugs that caused his death.
2. Heather O’Rourke
Have you watched The Poltergeist movies? If you did you would know that young Heather was the girl who starred in them. She died at the age of 12 before she even got to see the finished product of the third movie. Naturally, because of the nature of the movies she acted in, many assumed that something creepy happened and caused her to die at such a young age after all those movies were hella scary. But the autopsy report proves that it was an undetected bowel obstruction that she’s been suffering from since her birth that caused an infection that led to her premature death.
Cory was best known for his role on Glee, but he also quite publicly struggled with substance abuse and drug addiction. He tried to get better, go to rehabs, sober up a few times but to no avail. There was just something in him that wanted to self-destruct. One of his last projects was a TV show called McCanick in which he played a drug addict. Apparently, when he was auditioning for the role he said that he knows this character, he’s been him, he can relate to him really well. He was found dead in a hotel room at the age of 31 and that was all that was said. But later on, it was found in the autopsy report that the cause of death was a mix of alcohol and heroin.
There were a lot of conspiracy theories concerning Brittany Murphy’s death. She definitely died too young at the age of 32, it seemed like she had such a great life and career ahead of her. Her father even suggested that his daughter was poisoned and what she needed was an antidote. Her husband also died 5 months after she did and Murphy’s father found that to be very strange considering that the cause was the same. The coroner’s report stated that both of them died of pneumonia and severe anaemia.
Carrie Fisher was a goddess to Star Wars fans. Her portrayal of Princess Lea made her absolutely legendary, and the new remakes of Star Wars were so exciting and such a great opportunity for her to reclaim her role and bring even more dimension to the part. But sadly Carrie died in hospital soon after suffering cardiac arrest on the flight to London. The official cause of death was stated as sleep apnea, but the autopsy report stated that there were traces of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and opiates found in her toxicology report.
Michael Jackson’s death was possibly the most controversial and unexpected. He was set for a series of comeback concerts and everyone awaited the return of the King of Pop when he was found dead in his own bed. The official cause of death is stated as cardiac arrest induced by acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. His personal doctor was accused of essentially killing Michael by being reckless with medication he was giving him. But the autopsy revealed more than that. Traces of midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine were found in his blood, which is a very unpredictable and dangerous mix of meds. Another thing that was weird is that Jackson’s lips were tattooed pink and the front of his scalp was tattooed black, possibly so that his wigs would blend in better. Many people to this day believe that Michael Jackson faked his own death to get away from the scandals that were surrounding him.
